BEAST‘s Jang Hyunseung will soon stand on the musical stage.

It has been decided that Jang Hyunseung will be the new Mozart, following in the footsteps of JYJ‘s Kim Junsu, starting July 10th in the upcoming performances of the musical ‘Mozart!‘ at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts.

Last year, as a lead vocalist for his group BEAST, Jang Hyunseung helped them win the ‘Song of the Year’ award for their hit song, ‘Fiction,’ along with many other awards. With his basic foundation built upon his strong singing skills, Jang Hyunseung receives much attention for his distinctive vocal tone and unique style of performance.

Additionally, he also gained popularity last year when he teamed up with 4minute‘s HyunA for their subunit group Troublemaker and promoted their song of the same name. Since the beginning of his debut, while he had activities as a singer, he had wanted to challenge the acting world sometime in the future, and now, with ‘Mozart!,’ this dream has become a reality.

Jang Hyunseung shared his thoughts,

“I’m glad that I can do the best work for my first musical debut. In order to better portray to this most charming character of ‘Mozart!,’ I had to be fully immersed. Junsu hyung gave such perfect performances and alongside him, (Park) Eun Tae hyung’s skills are also outstanding, so I feel a lot of pressure for my first challenge. However, because I’ve always wanted to be a part of the acting world, I think that I will do my best. I hope that you can watch me work hard and give me your support.”

Director Yoo Hee Sung stated,

“Just like when Kim Junsu first challenged ‘Mozart,’ Jang Hyunseung also feels the pressure because of this first challenge, but seeing his passionate image towards challenging the musical, the building of one’s own character, I made the casting decision with a strong will.”

Amidst BEAST’s upcoming comeback to the Korean musical world in the first half of this year, while preparing for their new album, rather than starting practice on the official practice start date of ‘Mozart!’ on the 21st, Jang Hyunseung will be starting music practice earlier on the 8th.
