Korean Vegetarian Union complaint against IU's raw liver eating habits?

Recently, IU appeared on the show ‘Hello‘ and revealed that she likes to eat raw bloody livers and even ate one on the show. The Korean Vegetarian Union made a complaint on their homepage on the 27th of December titled, ‘KBS needs to make a public apology about the disgusting broadcast.’

However, the Korean Vegetarian Union were not the only ones to complain.

The post spurred netizens to state, “KBS didn’t feed a celebrity something that she didn’t want to eat” and “This is merely different tastes in food.

The Korean Vegetarian Union then proceeded to take the post down and withdraw their complaint. It seems that the main issue the Union had against that particular broadcast was that KBS had protrayed animals as merely food for human consumption.

Was the Korean Vegetarian Union right to post such a complaint?

  1. I think they were just being the PETA of Korea. For example, a celebrity could be seen wearing a mink coat on a show and PETA would complain about it.

But there’s a difference here, its just that she was displaying her taste in foods…not how savage she is in ravishing an animal’s organs…

    People are crazy -_ -

  2. They kinda took it a bit too personally. Its like using animal skin as clothing, same concept .. people need to relax a bit.

If IU likes to eat it then she can eat it, it’s not illegal is it? o.O

KBS does not need to apologize.

  3. What she eats is none of PETA business. Does the Korea Vegeterian Union dare to swear they don’t wear leather shoes, carry LV bags and purse, use crocodile skin hang bags, wear leather jackets during winter? This is only livers and we eat them all the time………plus I am pretty sure some of this people in the association actually eat this liver raw too. No, eating raw liver is not illegal. Koreans eat dogs too……they should go ban those people eating dogs……now that’s one gross act.

  4. Maybe she should dog meat as well and show it live on tv, so she can show how like korean peoples are. Because 90% there people already been eating dogs without the world know and i bet most of you guys dont even know about that… You dont need to enjoy the food just to eat meet.. If you became an animal you want them to chop you in pieces and eat you? Even in RAW.. Korea. People lost alot of there human nature.. There willing to eat anything just like chinese to pleasure there mouth…
The bottom line is u guys have no passion to living beings and one day the korean will eat live babies just like the chinese right now and you guys will just follow to those dumb people.. People eat horrible things is nasty, but people agree and watch them eat is even retarted..

    • You’re so racist. Asians DO NOT EAT DOGS EVERYTIME, and WE AS ASIANS ARE NOT REVOLTING IN DIET. So shush. If you are American, then I apologize for my stereotyping, but, do you gorge McDonalds? Hmm? The fries? The burgers? Ahaha(: Don’t you dare. )^:<

  5. It’s so ridiculous how they think it’s “digusting”. I mean, what’s the harm in eating raw liver? I remember my mom telling me that raw liver is good for the health or something. I mean, if it doesn’t affect IU’s foodborne illness or something, then what’s the harm? I think they took it too seriously. Gosh, what now, they’re gonna criticize every single celeb who wears fur coats, whether faux or real? Oh god.
