On January 7th, rapper will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas tweeted, “2NE1 is coming out crazy,” showing his anticipation for the Korean girl group’s U.S. debut album. Such an album has been in the works since 2009, under will.i.am’s direction.
2NE1′s agency, YG Entertainment, told Star News on January 9th: “After performing together at the MAMA Awards in Singapore at the end of last year, will.i.am and CL discussed working on a U.S. album together. will.i.am also wants to make additional songs and has agreed to collaborate.”
But he’s not the only one. LMFAO‘s producer Audiobot has also shown interest in 2NE1. On January 6th, Audiobot replied to a mention from a 2NE1 fan that read, “make a song for 2ne1,” with “I would really like to.” He apparently became flooded with similar requests from other 2NE1 fans, as he later tweeted, “wow getting a huge response from the 2ne1 fans! Thanks guys!”
With such attention, will 2NE1 succeed in breaking into the American music industry?
2NE1 is currently scheduled to perform in Tokyo, Japan on the 21st and 22nd of January at the Saitama Super Arena as part of the ‘YG Family Concert in Japan,’ celebrating the company’s 15th anniversary.
