Marche International du Disque et de l’Edition Musicale, also known as the MIDEM, is the worlds largest music industry trade fair. The event host a number of musicians and companies to showcase the latest music trends, artists and anything music related.
S.M Entertainment, one of the Korea’s biggest music companies and the stable of some of Asia’s biggest bands like Super Junior, Girls Generation and TVXQ, will be setting up their very own booth for the first time this year.
The event has been taking place in France for over five decades and will be taking place in Cannes this year, starting from February 28th till the 31th.
This will provide S.M the opportunity to meet with other internationally acclaimed artistes.
MIDEM representative said in a statement.
“SM Entertainment has been attending the MIDEM even before the MIDEM name carried any weight. Their efforts have paid off, as they’re now able to come independently and open their own booth.”
With S.M Entertainment granted the opportunity to hold their own booth, do you think its finally time that Kpop makes its official push into the Western music market?
Nevertheless, recent events have proven that Kpop is slowly growing to set it’s own value within the global music industry.
