JYJ’s Yoochun slapped a fan?

JYJ Yoochun Slapped fan

JYJ‘s Yoochun has been the topic of hot discussions for two straight weeks. Just last week he was in a scandal of being blackmailed by a former girlfriend, who threatened to release a sex tape of the him. And just today, a really old video surfaced the net of him slapping a fan during the Mirotic era of TVXQ.

The video has been gaining attention all over Twitter as it just came to light and many fans are outraged and disappointed by Yoochun’s action in the video.

Yoochun and Jaejoong have pleaded with sasaeng fans to respect their privacy’s as they have interfered with them, not only during fan meets, but outings with family. Jaejoong even recalled a time when all five members of TVXQ broke down crying pleading with sasaeng’s, only to have them stand by idly and smile at them.

The video that alleges Yoochun slapping the fan, shows Jaejoong and himself walking up to a building, however when the slap occurs, its difficult to see the person in the video due to the poor quality.

There have already been many gif images and videos of Yoochun that ties everything together making it seem more than likely it is him who slaps the fan.

Netizen’s have quickly condemned Yoochun’s action by saying things like “How disgusting.“, “Hes not just ugly on the outside.“, “If you like JYJ, you deserve to be slapped.” and “It was nice knowing you Yoochun.

Author’s Note

Say if Yoochun did slap the fan, does that mean he is a horrible person by nature? Does this mean he is a naturally violent person?

In my opinion it does not, it just shows that idols are human, they make mistakes. They are not these perfect beings that companies make them out to be.

They all have family and friends. More importantly they have lives they want to live.

Put yourself in his shoes, being constantly harassed by these fans — more importantly sasaeng fans– night and day. And factor in the long schedules you have to work, the unpleasant people you have to deal with in the industry.

At the end of the day you just want to go home and this “fan” won’t even let you get past the door. Do you think every now and then, you might have a lapse in judgment?

Yes, what Yoochun did is wrong. However, you have to consider two sides of the story. Sometimes those fans cross the line to far.

To instantly label him as this “Beast” who is uncontrollably violent and this is his nature, is absolutely unfair.

Kpop fans have gotten to see these boys for more than eight-years now through numerous variety shows and documentaries. I believe we’ve seen more good than bad from these guys. In fact, this maybe the first.

If this video truly is Yoochun, this just shows he is human like the rest of us. He made a mistake.

Are you going to tell me you’ve never made one?

  1. I commend him for not throwing her down the stairs. Did you see how many times Jaejoong had to stop walking to avoid walking into his fans? I get annoyed when that happens at public events. How much more annoying is that when trying to get into your own home??

Not saying his actions are justified but really, they handle the fame and the pressure well most of the time. He slipped up once. He’s human (not like that’s an excuse but still). Living a life without privacy has to pay a toll on these guys and Yoochun is obviously the one with the shortest temper (let’s blame that on America shall we? j/k). I know I would have been worse than he was.

Also, we only saw him hit the girl (which is wrong no matter how you put it) but did we see or hear the interactions. It didn’t look like he just randomly picked a person to beat on. There’s three sides to every story. The videos only show one. Only he and that girl knows exactly what happened, and she didn’t press charges which means she probably instigated the situation.

  2. I think that I would actually commend him for doing that. It is amazing how thoughtless most fans can be towards their favorite groups or bands. I’ve been to some Japanese rock concerts and also some regular concerts and it can be so crazy. Fans will grab at them and pester them and throw stuff, yet some groups and bands put up with it. They don’t have to put up with stuff like that! They have a right to their own life. Shame on you fans who are doing this to not only this group but if you have done it to other groups! They have a right to privacy and no matter how much I would like to meet them or to maybe give them a hug or most importantly thank them for everything they have done. I have self control. I am not going to die if I can’t meet them. I would consider myself lucky to go to a concert, and be content with that. Why can’t others be content? Why do they have to push the groups and bands to the end of their ropes? I just don’t understand why people would do this to them! It is so rude and disrespectful towards them! You should consider yourselves lucky that they even come to your country and perform! They could just blow it off and say that they didn’t want to put up with it anymore and only perform concerts where they don’t have to go through this. I’m not just talking about JYJ, I’m also talking about other groups and bands not only in Korea but in Japan as well. Think of everything they have to go through. Try walking in their shoes… Can you handle it? Think about it…

  3. I don’t think he was wrong, but the fan should realize that he is human too and not some item that doesn’t have feelings. I would have punched her.

  4. Uh, disagree. It’s never okay to hit anyone — much less a fan, sasaeng or otherwise, and MUCH less a woman in a culture where the blame for domestic violence often falls on the woman’s shoulders. I don’t care what she said or did — if it was anything short of actually pulling a knife on him, he should not have laid his hands on her.

It wasn’t like Yoochun just pushed her out of the way. You can hear the sound of his slap loud and clear in the video, and from the way the crowd reacts with gasps and shock, it stunned them too. Committing violence against another person is not an /accident/, and no one ever /deserves/ to get hit like that.

    • All these comments are super scary. “I commend him for doing that”?? For smacking a fan and grabbing her hair? Yoochun is in a position where his behavior has the potential to shape the way his fans think about the world — if you see your idol slapping people just because he’s tired or she’s annoying, what does that say to the people who idolize him? That it’s okay to hit people just because you don’t feel like dealing with their annoying behavior? That’s what you’re commending. You’re commending Yoochun teaching his fans that violence is an acceptable method of conflict resolution. That’s pretty messed up.

      • You’re right. It’s never okay to hit someone. And there’s no excuse for it. But at the same time, we have to realize that these celebrities are still human. They have weaknesses and it’s obvious that Yoochun is the member with the shortest temper. He’s one of the stars that actually seem more human than the others. Yes he was wrong, as a man and as a role model. But at the same time, I can understand his situation and his emotions and so I can’t sit there and just condemn him.

They constantly beg for just a bit of privacy. When it gets to the point where you watch someone who’s like your older brother cry because he’s so frustrated with not being able to live his life, it can affect you. When you have to push through a crowd to get to your own door after a long day at work, it can get to you. When you have to deal with jerks day in and day out just because it’s your job, that can get to you. When everything you do is monitored and criticized, that can get to you. When you want to just hide in your home and you can’t get through because an obsessed fan wants to barricade the door, that can be the straw on the camels back. I’ve hit people for lesser reasons (and by people, I mean my younger brother and one or two people that constantly annoy me). The pressure of living as a celebrity with all kinds of expectations is something that most of us cannot even begin to imagine.

Not to mention that someone decided to dig this up from how many years ago? It’s a video, which means it could have been posted right after it happened. Instead, the video comes out years later, just to add to the troubles that he, along with the other members of JYJ, have to face. And then, there’s the whole sex scandal thing (which may or may not have been him). Fair is fair. Justice is justice. Wrong is wrong. But mostly, Past is PAST.

        • The fact that he’s an idol doesn’t excuse it. I don’t care how busy he is or how stressful his job is or how annoying fans can be — it is INEXCUSABLE for him to hit a fan. Inexcusable. There’s no “well it’s okay because sasaeng fans are annoying/because he was stressed out/because whatever.” If however many idols can make it through their day to day lives without hitting their fans, I expect Yoochun to be able to do the same.

I would really like to see any of you guys go up to a victim of domestic violence and tell them that you think it’s okay because ~the past ist he past~, or that they must have deserved it because they were being annoying when their abuser was stressed.

  5. It’s not okay to hit a fan, or anyone really, but the fans need to realize that idols are people too. They deserve to be able to go out with friends and family and not constantly get mobbed. I would hate to be in an idol’s shoes. I don’t commend what he did, but the fans definitely need to back off.

  6. Am I the only one who sees that right after “he” hits the fan that he still has his arm stretched out and his hand on her bed, as she covers it. Did you ever think he just lost his cool for one second? I’m surprised that Jaejoong stayed calm as well. People lose their cool all the time. Just keep the past in the past. All of these incidents being brought back when the Mirotic era is long gone is ridiculous. If it were Yoochun, just forgive him, because it really looks like to me that he is almost regretting what he did ‘if it were him’ right away. JUST LET IT GO!

  7. How interesting that this days how many malicious gossip about Yuchoon. I do not think this is a coincidence. On the other hands:the saesangs are really truoblemakers, just like some stupid fangirls. And I really didn’t understand where was the bodyguards?? I understand Yuchoon completly and I didn’t blame him. He was completly right.

  8. I thought Mirotic era was during late 2008/early 2009. This incident happened in September 2009.

If it was him, then what he did was wrong. I hope he realised that and learned from his mistake. And since this is a one-off incident which happened 3 years ago, I can understand if the fans want to forgive him and move on.

  9. well I watched several video on Youtube and it’s clearly that the fan kept on blocking Yoochun’s way into his home[which most hardcore fans does] and Yoochun INDEED slapped her.Since I don’t want any anti on me my point of view is that both of them are at fault…..

Agreed. In no way is anyone trying to excuse Yoochun for his actions. However, there seem to be more people wanting to bash him for this and use the opportunity to take him down. This article was just offering a different side of the spectrum people should consider.

      • Yep there are indeed people who trying to take him down since he’s not their ‘Bias’.

Don’t really get why people can’t just support their idol and stop bashing other’s

        “Different people different view” :)

  10. In a way,I agree with what you said;however from a female perspective I disagree. Both parties are wrong. What I wonder is that how come this video comes 3 years after and why this girl decided to share it after Yoochun`s sex tape talks started.Let`s say he hit her and paid money to keep her quiet, don`t you think she would keep asking for more money or threaten to go to the police with this video in her hand?I do not believe Yoochun would lose his mind to the extent that he hit a girl in front of all these people and Jaejoong would stay that calm after seeing it.It just does not make sense, something is really out of place.
In fact there is a slow motion video which shows that this girl tried to hit Yoochun and Yoochun raised his hands to block her but when she continued,he kind of tried to push her away.Maybe accidentally his hands came to her head,I do not know but seriously the whole thing smells like a rotten plan to destroy JYJ`s image. The whole thing looks like a professionally done set up.I am sa that more sleepless nights are awaiting for JYJ. I hope these gray clouds will dissipate soon;otherwise we will miss their uplifting smiling faces for awhile.JYJ fighting!

I strongly agree with you Rose! Again, the point of my article is not to say Yoochun is justified of his actions, if he really did it. This was written to show the other side that a lot of stans won’t see and just want to rip Yoochun and JYJ apart, they only want to see “Yoochun did something wrong! Hes evil!” part. And it was really unfair to do that him in that sense.

  11. BTW on youtube in some videos it shows that the sound of slap came from this girl`s slapping him ,not him slapping her. From what I understand watching various videos from different perspectives,Yoochun did not hit her,he just tried to self-defend himself by blocking and pushing her hands.

    • can you give me the link to your videos? I’d really wanted to see more of this incident so I can get a clear answer for myself and others.

  12. Omg k-pop fans can be hypocrites! saying thing is such a bad thing!
Well too bad this is reality, idols are humans too you know, they are only one person. And a fan to be hit by Yoochun could actually deserve it. Korean fans are just so crazy and unbeilevble. Im not saying that hitting a fan is good, im just saying that k-pop are over the top. Sure they are idols but they have a life too, not just pleasing you fans. Not everthing is about fans. Just because they do something you don’t like, doesn’t mean you can to hate them and be a hypocrite. If you are a true fan respect them. So quit your complaining. Put yourself in their shoes for once.

    • I am not a big fan ,believe me.I know JKJ only for a short time.I was objective when I saw the videos and read the comments. It has nothing to do with being a hypocrite. It just does not make sense for him to slap a girl in front of everybody who holds many cameras and get away with it for 3 years. why did this video just come out like that out of blue now?For me it just does not make sense and after seeing slowed version,I believe that he did not hit her just because she was blocking his way in,he just self defended himself. However,in any case both parties are wrong and I hope they learnt their lessons!

  13. In this video, you can clearly see that this girl slapped him first
and Yoonchun reacted to it afterwards.
