There was a recent post on an online community board titled ‘JYP Stars With Single Eyelids“. It has been gaining a huge amount of attention because of its about a somewhat controversial topic.
As a K-pop fan, you should be familiar with Korea’s obsession with ‘double eyelids’. Many celebrities have the prominent double eyelids as it signifies beauty. Some celebrities who only had single eyelids have had plastic surgery done just to have the coveted double eyelids.
But thanks to the online community board, stars who only have single eyelids and aren’t afraid to show it are now gaining huge buzz and recognition for it. Stars like 2AM’s Jinwoon, 2PM’s Wooyoung, Wonder Girls’ Sohee, and J.Y. Park himself.
These stars from JYP Entertainment don’t have the ‘special’ double eyelids yet they are still renown in the K-pop industry and loved despite only having single eyelids.
This questions the whole ‘double eyelid’ fad and whether or not it is really necessary. It’s brought much needed appreciation to those who only have single eyelids. Netizens have been saying,
“What’s special about double eyelids? I think both types look beautiful.”
“It’s their talent and unique beauty that matters. They don’t need double eyelids.”
“Hopefully stars can be just like them and not get double eyelid surgery”.

if you look at Chang Min (dbsk) ‘s eyes, on one of their japanese single vid clip (i forgot which one is – but it was before dbsk separation), you could see that he has both double eyelids (on his left eye, cmiiw) and single eyelid (his right eye).
and he’s still as gorgeous as ever. seriously, Korean girls, no matter how small your eyes is, whether you have double or single eyelid, how tall (or short) you are, that doesn’t count. i’m being honest and mostly sincere. serious.
what counted are , whether you’re healthy. have a healthy skin (i’m talking about acnes, not wrinkles, wrinkles are normal. and definitely not skin color, geez), healthy body, healthy mind (comfort about yourself), and healthy heart (you know, being sincere, not faking it) that’s all you need to be define as “beautiful”
seriously. believe me. Stop changing your body. Start taking care of your health. unless your skin has heavily burned under some accident, or something like that that definitely need surgery, then there’s no point in going under knife for whatever reason.

I don’t care much about looks. If the person themself really really want it, let them and I’m not only talking about double eyelid. If only for the purpose to achieve the korean beauty, then of course no, better train your voices, your dance moves or polishes your acting skills, that is much more important, than to risk your health.
you know what, here in the Philippines.. Eyelids are not noticeable, we don’t mind if you have a single or double because I think in my own opinion the beauty of a person not reflects not only in just one physical aspect but the whole.
